In the post we provide guidelines on the dimensions of a Super Sack® container and how to estimate the size when filled.
Bulk bags, or FIBCs, are manufactured by cutting and sewing woven polypropylene fabric. Although a bulk bag is typically constructed in a rectangular shape, due to the flexibility of the polypropylene fabric, the bag will round similar to a cylinder when filled.
The dimensions of a Super Sack® container are typically provided in length, width and height, or often seen as l x w x h. To calculate the diameter of a bulk bag, use the side panel width, then multiply by the number of panels, and divide by π or 3.1416. For example, the diameter of a bulk bag with a 35” x 35” rectangular base is calculated as 35 x 4 (sides) / 3.1416, which = 44.56, or more commonly recognized as 45”.
A four-panel bulk bag will round out and the circumference expands by approximately 120% when filled. For a standard Super Sack® container, which is 35” x 35” x 53”, the filled bulk bag will measure 45” in diameter and the filled height reduces by 4” to 49”.
Here is a helpful Super Sack® container sizing chart:
